I wanted to share an example of how great vision IN US can protect us from distractions turning into disasters.

So this past Saturday, we were about to begin rehearsal when I noticed something strange happening with our stage lights.  I went to investigate the situation and during that process of investigation one of our dimmer packs in the ceiling literally exploded with sparks and flames followed.

Let me stop here and just say that I am blessed to lead an amazing team of volunteers.  No one panicked. (Actually, if anyone panicked,  it was me but I like to look at it as being URGENT.)

They responded with vision in mind. Hear that again…they responded with vision.  They did not react.  The particular vision they had was the “excellent atmosphere” vision of Keystone Church.  Now they probably didn’t say in their brains at that moment, “Hmm…how would the vision of excellent atmosphere at Keystone cause me to respond?”  No…it was just IN them.

Here’s what it looked like practically:

1) Jeff (Sound Guy) handled the small fire in a safe way that it would not ruin the atmosphere in the room. I.E. He did not spray an unneeded fire extinguisher everywhere. He was thinking of the atmosphere.

2) Several volunteers immediately began to air out the room/building without any direction from myself.  They wanted to protect the weekend atmosphere. They used anything they could get their hands on to remove the smell of the electrical fire: several cans of Febreeze, scented candles, and fans. At one point it smelled like Dillard’s fragrance section meets electrical fire.  I’m just kidding.  It ended up great.

We could have just sprayed the fire extinguisher everywhere and not cared about the awful smell and chalked it up to…”Oh, people won’t mind…they’ll understand.”  But it never entered our mind.  Its because the VISION is IN US.  This vision tells us to value the atmosphere at Keystone.

Here’s the BIG takeaway…When VISION is IN YOU…it naturally FLOWS out of YOU (especially when you are squeezed).
